Twitterfon: Great AND free app for iPhone & iTouch!
by Gadgetlady on May.14, 2009, under reviews, techy, twitter
I love using Twitter So, I’ve purchased two apps, and downloaded a few free ones for my iTouch that will make it simple for me to manage my tweets and tweeple. I have three favorites, and I know right away who takes the bronze, but I’m still very much undecided on who should have the silver & gold.
Let’s review… All three apps are available to download at the iTunes App Store. I’m testing on an iPod Touch…16gb…NOT jailbroken.
BRONZE
Twitterfon
Price: Free (ad supported)

In regards to free apps, Twitterfon is my favorite by far. I’ve used other free ones and they just don’t compare to Twitterfon. However, not everything is free. Twitterfon is now ad supported as of the May 14. For some people, that’s ok in a free app, but for others, it poses a problem.
I liked and chose Twitterfon as my third favorite app for its simplicity. The ads only appear at the top of your list, so they are not in your way or in sight constantly. If I could choose how my ad supported apps would look, I would choose how Twitterfon handles their ads.
Twitterfon also indicates how many new tweets you have or DM’s (direct messages) by having little red indicators on the tweets & messages buttons.
Overall, I’m very happy with Twitterfon.

Children & Colds
by Gadgetlady on Mar.09, 2009, under Uncategorized
When my buddy (3 yo) gets sick, it just makes me feel so helpless. I see his little nose running and the coughing breaks my heart.
What I really don’t understand is why all the cold & flu medications are being taken off the shelf for children under the age of (6) six. I understand that doctors and pharmacies believe we as a society are over medicating, but saying these medications don’t do anything is false (IMHO). I see how they make my son feel better. I don’t over-medicate my son by any means, I only usually give him a dose of mess maximum 2 times per day and usually it’s only once.
When my little guy can hardly move because he feels so miserable, and a little medication can let him enjoy his day for a couple hours or let him sleep for a couple hours, I really don’t see the harm. Even my pharmacist says that he used & uses them on his kids often when they were sick & hurting.
Anyway, just venting, I guess.
It would be interesting to see how the other parents feel about this subject.

Testing…
by Gadgetlady on Feb.28, 2009, under reviews, techy
Now, for a limited time from the appstore, you can purchase “Blogpress” for $1.99! That’s a great buy considering how truly powerful it is. My favorite feature is the ability to flip your itouch(iphone) to landscape and this app will follow!! Great for two-thumbed typing!
What’s also great about this app is that is multi-platform! I can post this same app to several different blog formats such as: Wordpress, Lovejoirnal & Blogger (+ More).
I’m testing this app now and the only true way to test is to hit “publish”, so…here it goes!!!

Pocket Sharp MT vs moBlog
by Gadgetlady on Feb.09, 2009, under reviews, techy
OS: Windows Mobile 6 (Touch Screen)
PDA: Dell Axim x50v
BLOG: http://blog.gadgrtlady.com
Blog Software: Wordpress 2.7
For ease of use, I recommend Pocket Sharp. It’s quick to open, quick to save, and also posting to your server. I use Wordpress for 2/3 of my blogs. I use Blogger on another blog for another purpose.
However, PocketSharp only supports posting to one blog. I chose to use it for this blog as I knew the location of the xmlrpc.php file. I’m not sure if this software would work with Blogger.
MoBlog states that it supports Blogger, however, I have yet to get it to work. The posts just do not go through.
I’ve tried Mobile GBlogger to no success. That didn’t work what-so-ever. I even tried logging onto the Blogger web page on my mobile….nope. I’m wondering if Blogger is mobile friendly….
Processor speed, again, I am very pleased with Pocket Sharp. MoBlog was slower and at times could be frustrating, but it works.
Where speed has the advantage with Pocket Sharp; MoBlog has the advantage with multiple blogs.
Because I don’t post to my third blog mobilly (<- is that a word?) I’m choosing Pocket Sharp over MoBlog.
Cheers!!
